Augie Munoz
Hey everyone, my name is Augie, and I am a US Army Veteran from Tucson, AZ. I am married and have two girls and one puppy. My military career started in 1995 where I started out as a Unit Supply Specialist in a Field Artillery battalion and later became a career recruiter which is how I ended up in Chicago and joining MVP. In addition to Chicago, my career took me to State College, PA; Fort Carson, CO; Fort Jackson, SC; Southern California; the Middle East; Fort Huachuca; Fort Hood. I deployed twice in 2001, Middle East, and 2015 to Afghanistan. I had a great career and was able to serve alongside some outstanding people. I think maybe that is what motivated me to stay in as long as I did, but either way that chapter in my life closed in 2020 when 1SG Munoz hung up the uniform.
MVP has made my transition from the military much easier than I would have expected, especially with how our world has changed in response to the global pandemic. Though another veterans group, I met an MVP member who encouraged me to participate in a workout. That is where I first met Bobby Wise and the rest is history. MVP has allowed me to reach out to a struggling friend and give him or her my undivided attention as I listen to what is going on in their world. I have also learned of veteran programs that has enhanced my quality of life. Looking back at it all, I would have never been able to get the help I needed if it had not been for MVP.
I never understood how much in common us Veterans have with the Players. We hate losing, value brotherhood, and are immensely proud of our accomplishments. There is something to be said about being a part of something greater than yourself, and I am proud to be a member of MVP.
