Merging Vets and Players (MVP) is a platform and movement that empowers combat veterans and former professional athletes by connecting them after the uniform comes off; providing them with a new team to assist with transition, promote personal development, and show them they are never alone. MVP is built on our team's years of experience coaching, mentoring, and leading men and women to their highest level of performance - in every sphere of life. We are currently located in seven cities, host virtual chapters..and growing! 

Position Objective: 

Maximize the reach of Merging Vets and Players (MVP) work with veterans and athletes by using innovative strategies with a goal of reaching local corporate and government sponsors, Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs), military bases, professional and semi-professional athletic teams, players, and resources. The target market may also include adaptive athlete programs. 

Position Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Seek out and develop professional relationships with VSOs, military leaders, government leaders, corporate sponsors, athletes, agents, teams, publicists, and organizations that foster these relationships on an ongoing basis in order to promote a pipeline of members, partnerships, sourcing, and ambassadors 

  • Lead resourcing campaign from ideation through execution 

  • Coordinate marketing and program messaging with appropriate internal and external stakeholders 

  • Work with all local and virtual chapters (as designated), departments and staff members, and appropriate affiliates and ambassadors to maximize exposure and success 

  • Stay up-to-date with all veterans and sports-related news, events, important dates, and strategize fresh, interesting content, concepts and relationships opportunities 

  • Liaise with MVP affiliates and assist in coordinating sports outreach, campaigns, and associated programs 

  • Represent MVP at any business meeting and event, working seamlessly with all targeted members and communities, athlete and veteran 

  • Maintain records of external stakeholders and key interactions with the ability to work in a team-driven and dispersed organization 

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by local and national supervisors 

  • Work as a team player within the organization with the ultimate goal of servicing and benefitting the customer, players and veterans, and external stakeholders 

 Requirements: 

  • College degree in related field or equivalent experience 

  • Minimum of two years of experience in marketing, management, or related field 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in military and Veteran issues, and professional sports culture 

  • Working knowledge of major and minor sports athletes, leagues and associations on a national level 

  • Demonstrated ability to strategically and creatively think and deal with the associated communities 

  • Knowledge of issues that would enable or inhibit the participation of an athlete or athletic association of joining or supporting our organization 

  • Excellent organizational skills 

  • Ability to communicate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to include athletes and veteran communities 

  • Support MVP’s philosophy and the ability to professional advocate MVP’s positions on related community issues 

  • Ability to integrate MVP’s associated communities: athletes and veterans 

  • Commitment to the goals and objectives of the organization 

This position includes in-person, scheduled hours, including evening and weekend events. It is non-exempt, part-time. The position is a cross-functional position with a multi-faceted reporting structure; reporting to functional department directors, company officers, and also works with Program Managers and Coordinators as applicable and for the success of the mission.
