Merging Vets and Players (MVP) is a platform and movement that empowers combat veterans and former professional athletes by connecting them after the uniform comes off; providing them with a new team to assist with transition, promote personal development, and show them they are never alone. MVP is built on our team's years of experience coaching, mentoring, and leading men and women to their highest level of performance - in every sphere of life.  We are currently located in seven cities, host two virtual chapters..and growing!  

MVP is looking for an experienced and organized self-starter who believes in the MVP mission and has the ability to support the Program Managers, National Team, and growing membership.  

The Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator plays a pivotal role in managing and coordinating the volunteer program for MVP. This position involves working closely with volunteers, staff members, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful onboarding, placement, and engagement of volunteers within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities 

·         Act as the main point of contact for MVP volunteers through text, emails, phone calls, zoom, and in-person meetings. 

·         Manage new volunteer applications

·         Manage onboarding training for new volunteers

·         Provide ongoing support and resources to volunteers throughout their engagement.

·         Match volunteers with appropriate roles based on their skills, interests, and availability while considering organizational needs.

·         Maintain an organized schedule and system for volunteer assignments, ensuring coverage for various events, projects, and initiatives.

·         Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer community by maintaining open communication, addressing concerns, and promoting a collaborative environment.

·         Implement recognition and appreciation initiatives to acknowledge and celebrate volunteers' contributions and milestones.

·         Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records, including contact information, roles, hours volunteered, and achievements.

·         Generate regular reports on volunteer program metrics, participation, and impact for organizational evaluation and improvement.

·         Collaborate with different departments and teams to identify volunteer needs and opportunities across the organization.

·         Regularly assess the effectiveness of the volunteer program and identify areas for improvement.

·         Propose and implement innovative ideas to enhance the volunteer experience and increase program impact.

 

Qualifications:

This position will require a self-starter with leadership experience. Additional characteristics include:  

·         Experience in volunteer management, recruitment, or community engagement preferred.

·         BSc/BA in business administration, human resources, social studies or relevant field will be appreciated

·         Ability and willingness to work 25 hours per week

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with diverse partners and audiences  

·         Superior interpersonal and leadership skills to collaborate tactfully and effectively with MVP partners, staff, and volunteers

·         Experience working or volunteering with community or national non-profits 

·         Experience working with veterans or athletes a plus 

·         Ability to prioritize an ever-changing workload 

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills, professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities 

·         Experience utilizing Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required, and understanding of CRM functionality preferred 

·         Passion for the organization's mission and values

·         Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekend events 

·         Valid United States driver’s license and ability to travel to meetings within local and national markets as assigned 

·         Criminal History background checks to include State and FBI Checks (the position is contingent on results)  

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a Part-Time, Unpaid Volunteer Opportunity. The position would require 25 hours of work per week, and hours may fluctuate depending on event or need.  If travel is required, the company will provide reimbursement or stipend.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS  

Time spent in this position is primarily in an office setting.  It may include attending, and implementing meetings, events, and programs at other locations, including outdoors in natural settings and in dense crowds (for example: in gyms, parks, at sporting events with dense crowds and loud noise, at sports stadiums, etc.). Work hours may shift dependent on project or program needs and staff or partner availability. This is a part-time position that includes work during normal company workdays (9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday) and occasionally on a weekend day.  

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The incumbent should be able to lift 20 pounds. The incumbent should be able to sit and stand for at least 4 hours at a time.  

 

SUPERVISORY AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position directly supervises lead volunteers and regular individual and group volunteers.

Works closely with: Director of Training and Resources, Chapter Program Managers, COO, and Officers as necessary to accomplish the mission and goals of MVP.  Reporting Structure may change at any time as necessary.
